Toowong Private Hospital to close from 11 June

Toowong, a 58-bed psychiatric hospital in Australia, is set to close due to financial crises brought on by insurers. The Australian Private Hospitals Association asserts the Australian Government has allowed insurance companies to profit at the expense of healthcare needs, leading to average shortchanging of private hospitals by over AUD1bn ($725m) annually. Over recent years, 20 private hospitals have closed completely, with over 70 services at others permanently cancelled.
