Recorded Future, a vendor of a threat intelligence system powered by machine learning, has conducted its own research on ransomware attacks against healthcare providers in the US. The company documented 117 ransomware incidents targeting healthcare providers, although the actual number is likely higher due to unreported attacks. Of the incidents that were tracked, 61% confirmed that no ransom payment was made, while 15% confirmed payment. Although healthcare providers are thought to be more likely to pay ransoms, data on this is unclear.
