Cybersecurity researchers are tracking a new variant of the Vo1d botnet that has infected around 1.6 million devices, predominantly Android TVs, across 226 countries. The botnet is being used as an anonymous proxy and its size varies daily, which researchers attribute to potential “renting” of devices as proxy servers to other groups. Most victims are located in Brazil, followed by South Africa and Indonesia.
