Android malware known as ‘FakeCall’ is now capable of deceiving individuals into unintentionally telephoning a scammer, potentially revealing personal information, according to cyber-security firm Zimperium. The malware, through using a method called “vishing”, tricks victims into downloading a harmful APK file, which then takes control of victims’ phone calls, subsequently leading to identity fraud and hijacking of calls. Zimperium advises against downloading apps or APKs not sourced from the official Google Play Store.
