These were the nastiest malware strains of 2023 – so stay on your guard

The annual Nastiest Malware report from OpenText Cybersecurity has revealed that ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) is the primary threat to cyber safety this year. Key players in the ransomware market are rebranded versions of prior threats such as Cl0p, BlackCat, and Akira. These entities have made significant impacts through attacks on firms like MOVEit, MGM Casino Resorts, and Cisco’s VPN products. Despite this, fewer companies are paying ransoms, indicating increased investment in cybersecurity.
