The US proposes stricter cybersecurity rules to protect healthcare data

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has proposed new cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive patient information. The regulations require healthcare providers to implement multi-factor authentication, segment their networks, and encrypt patient data. The proposals are part of a larger cybersecurity strategy by the Biden administration and, if approved, could change the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. Despite high implementation costs, the measures could reduce data breaches and boost patient trust.
