The rising cybersecurity crisis in healthcare: Are you prepared?

In 2024, 67% of global healthcare organizations were targeted by ransomware attacks. Cybercriminals exploit the industry’s sensitive data and crucial infrastructure. Cyberattacks pose a risk to operations, reputational damage, regulatory fines, and patient safety. The challenges include ransomware attacks, regulatory pressure, insider threats, the use of AI, and balancing patient experience with security. The average cost of ransomware recovery in healthcare was $2.57 million in 2024. Only 22% of affected organizations recover within a week, leading to disrupted services, compromised patient outcomes, business loss and vulnerability to further attacks.
