Medical wards at The Prince Charles Hospital in Queensland have trialled a potential world-first electronic tool for assessing causes of delirium. Developed by geriatrician Dr Eamonn Eeles, the tool utilises a series of yes/no questions, smart design features and conventional algorithms to identify potential causes such as infection, organ dysfunction or drugs, aiming to improve the current underdiagnosis of delirium and decrease associated mortality risk.
