The Path to a Better Tuberculosis Vaccine Runs Through Montana

Montana researchers are working to develop a more effective tuberculosis (TB) vaccine, improving on the existing BCG vaccine which is only 40-80% effective in young children and less effective in adults and adolescents. Novel adjuvants are being added to the vaccine in a process called precision vaccination. The project, which has been in progress for 15 years, anticipates another five years before the vaccine may be widely distributed.
