The Internet is (once again) awash with IoT botnets delivering record DDoSes

Cloudflare has reported a record-breaking distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack from 13,000 IoT devices infected by malware variant Mirai. Conducted on one of Cloudflare’s customers, the attack showed threat actors compromising various Internet-connected devices to carry out DDoS attacks. Other security firms, including Qualys and Trend Micro, have also reported significant botnet activities, indicating a rise in IoT-driven DDoS attacks in 2025.
