The loss of financial data has the highest impact on businesses, followed by employee records loss. Key causes of breaches include employee/contractor negligence and deliberate actions, IT oversights, and third-party mistakes, while 17% of successful phishing attacks resulted in confidential data loss. The study recommends organizations adopt robust authentication, back-up all data, and ensure employees are well trained in cyber security awareness.
