Scam Sniffer has reported that malware scams on Telegram surpassed traditional phishing attacks between November 2024 and January 2025. This significant increase in incidence is due to tactics including fake verification bots and counterfeit airdrop groups. Upon interaction with these harmful entities, hackers gain access to sensitive data causing financial losses harder to trace. It appears that scammers are increasingly shifting to social engineering and bypassing phishing links to trick users into executing malicious code.
