System intrusions were responsible for 80% of data breaches in the Asia-Pacific region in 2025, according to Verizon’s Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR). The study analysed over 22,000 security incidents, including 12,195 confirmed breaches worldwide. The DBIR also found that ransomware accounted for 51% of violations in the region, with over half of victim organisations having credentials exposed on the dark web. The report observed a global rise in exploitation of vulnerabilities, particularly via zero-day exploits.
