Over 60 core IT systems at laboratories are being rebuilt following a ransomware attack on pathology system provider Synnovis by Russian cyber crime group Qilin. Thousands of operations and appointments were postponed, but Synnovis has since restored many systems. Routine blood transfusion services are not expected to be fully restored until Autumn. Dr Chris Streather noted that capacity for routine blood tests has started to increase. Transfers back to Synnovis will resume on a borough-by-borough basis from August 2024.
