Suspected Chinese malware operation menacing IoT devices with Hiatus RAT

The FBI has reported that Hiatus RAT, a malware group suspected of having links to the Chinese government, is targeting IoT devices, such as smart cameras and video boxes, to build a botnet. This Trojan malware allows remote control and access to the compromised hardware, with U.S. government agencies and related private contractors appearing to be the primary targets. IoT devices are particularly vulnerable due to the neglect of updates for known vulnerabilities and poor password management.
