A HandyRecoveryAdvisor survey reveals a concerning lack of data backups, with only 33% of users regularly backing up their data. Despite rising data creation and consumption globally, 27% only back up a few times a year and 22% do not back up their data. Misconceptions around cloud storage safety may play a role, with 63% of respondents incorrectly thinking that syncing with cloud storage provides full backup. The most common causes of data loss were accidental deletion and lack of backups (34%), and hardware malfunction (30%).
