Suffolk County, N.Y., Leaders Blame Clerk’s Office for Cyberattack

Technical errors, delayed security upgrades, poor management structures, and interference from a senior official led to a cyberattack on New York’s Suffolk County in September, costing over $5 million to rectify, according to an investigation by Palo Alto Networks. The ransomware attack caused significant disruption by shutting down digital county services for several months.
