Steam just killed a game that was installing Windows malware

A free-to-play game named PirateFi, recently available on the Steam Store, has been identified as a source of malware. Despite Steam’s efforts to protect users, around 800 downloaded the game before Valve could pull it from the store. Some users reported stolen passwords and gaming currency. The incident demonstrates the increased difficulty for Valve in maintaining a secure platform as its user base continues to grow.
