Steam enforces SMS verification to curb malware-ridden updates

Valve is implementing additional security measures for developers on the Steam platform following a spate of malware attacks through compromised accounts. These measures include SMS-based confirmation codes that developers must confirm before pushing game updates or adding new users to the Steamworks partner group. However, critics argue that this is not a foolproof solution as the system can still fall prey to SIM-swap attacks and password-stealing malware.
