St. Johns County alerts parents to student data breach, says software company offering 2 years of ID monitoring

In a recent data breach at PowerSchool, an educational software provider, the personal information of some St. Johns County students was accessed. Details such as names, contact information and birth dates were reportedly exported. However, the district confirmed that there is no indication of compromised Social Security numbers. The school district is reassessing its relationship with PowerSchool while the software provider is offering complimentary identity protection services for two years to the affected students.
