The proxy botnet ‘Socks5Systemz’, distributed by the PrivateLoader and Amadey malware, has infected 10,000 computers globally. Infected devices are used as traffic-forwarding proxies for illegal or anonymous activities and sold to subscribers who pay $1-$140 daily in crypto to access it. The proxy botnet, which has been around since 2016, primarily infects computers through phishing, exploit kits, and malvertizing among others.
