Researchers at Union have found that viewing social media posts that mock mental health treatment can influence people’s attitudes towards it. The study’s subjects, mostly males, viewed 10 tweets, half of which had derogatory content about mental health. The negative posts had great impact primarily on women who did not espouse traditional views of femininity, leading to increased stigma towards mental health treatment.
