Snowflake Denies Attack Responsibility, Admits Hack of Former Worker

Cloud data platform Snowflake has denied culpability for recent cyber attacks on Ticketmaster and Santander Bank in which attackers accessed over half a billion customers’ data. While acknowledging that a former employee’s demo account was accessed using stolen credentials, Snowflake asserts that the account contained no sensitive data and was not linked to the company’s main systems. The breached businesses blame the cyberattacks on an unspecified third party. Security experts have pointed to the shared responsibility for cybersecurity between clients and vendors.
