Serviceaide, Inc. experienced a data breach due to a misconfigured Elasticsearch database, affecting nearly 480,000 Catholic Health patients. The breach, which lasted 47 days in late 2024, exposed sensitive patient data including names, social security numbers, medical details, and login credentials. Although no data theft has been confirmed, there’s potential risk of identity theft and medical fraud. Serviceaide has since secured the database and enhanced access controls. Patients have been advised to implement credit freezes and monitor their medical statements for unrecognized charges.
