Serious Cyber Breach In Rawlins Could Have Been Prelude To Ransomware Attack

The city of Rawlins on Tuesday said no sensitive data or lasting harm was caused by a cyber breach on its computer servers that was reported to them by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in November. The city delayed going public about the breach to allow for investigation and installation of protective measures. It is highly unlikely the attackers will be found. Most of the costs relating to the incident will be covered by the city’s technology insurance.
