Senators propose bill to boost IoT cybersecurity

Legislators have introduced the Internet of Things Cybersecurity Improvement Act of 2017 in an effort to improve the cybersecurity of Internet-connected devices. The bill calls for government-purchased devices to meet specified security requirements, such as being patchable and free of known vulnerabilities. The legislation also encourages security research and provides legal protections for researchers.
