However, politicians don’t seem eager for Congress to play a larger role in regulation. The inquiry aims to provide consumers with greater knowledge of the financial practices and care standards of facilities. There are over 800,000 senior Americans living in assisted facilities; most costs are out of pocket as only a fifth of facilities accept Medicaid.
