Google has been found to be advertising a malicious website as a sponsored search result for the second time. This instance involved Google posting an ad for a cloned version of Homebrew, a widely-used open-source package manager that contained malicious software aimed at Mac and Linux devices. The malware was installed when users downloaded a command that was displayed on the cloned website. Mike McQuaid, Homebrew’s project leader, said there was little they could do to prevent similar incidents in the future.
