Nearly nine out of ten healthcare organizations surveyed by Proofpoint and the Ponemon Institute experienced cyber attacks in the past year, with the average attack costing roughly $5 million, a 13% increase from the prior year. The report also found that the majority of attacked healthcare organizations reported disruption to patient care, including complications in procedures and increased patient mortality rates.
