Seattle Children’s Hospital transitioned from owning traditional IT infrastructure to a consumption-based strategy as a cost cutting measure, according to its Chief Digital Officer, Zafar Chaudry. Having started the transformation seven years ago, the hospital partnered with Rackspace for this project, retraining 50 of its IT staff rather than replacing them. This model, Chaudry said, helped to lower costs, improve operations, and enhance cybersecurity. The strategy could save the hospital between 10% and 12% over the next decade.
