Scattered Spider Behind Cyberattacks on M&S and Co-op, Causing Up to 2M in Damages

April 2025’s cyber attacks on UK retailers Marks & Spencer and Co-op are classified as a “single combined cyber event” by the Cyber Monitoring Centre (CMC), costing between £270 million – £440 million. The notorious cybercrime group Scattered Spider is suspected to be behind the incidents. The group typically uses social engineering tactics to gain unauthorised access. Harrods’ cyber attack is not part yet included due to lack of information.
