Despite a decrease in total healthcare data breaches in H1 2023 compared to H2 2022, the scale of breaches has increased, impacting 40 million people, according to cybersecurity firm Critical Insight. The trend is partially due to cybercriminals targeting healthcare providers’ business associates. While the number of total breaches may decrease, they are becoming larger, with an average of over 304,000 records impacted per incident.
