Chinese state-sponsored group Salt Typhoon has targeted high-profile organizations globally using varied and powerful malware including GhostSpider, a highly modular backdoor, and it also uses tactics like island hopping, according to Trend Micro. The group targets Linux servers of Southeast Asian governments, North American telcos including T-Mobile USA, and ISPs. The group gained its entry mainly through Internet-facing devices using n-day vulnerabilities.
