Russian agents are reportedly manipulating users of encrypted messaging app Signal to involuntarily link their devices, for espionage purposes amid the Ukraine conflict, according to Google’s Threat Intelligence Group. The primary attack vector is Signal’s device-linking feature; attackers have been sharing malicious QR codes disguised as group invites and security alerts. Google notes that newer Signal versions have phishing protection features. There is no mention of a Signal vulnerability.
