Right Diagnosis Can Help Mothers and Babies

A low-cost artificial intelligence (AI) tool could help to diagnose postpartum posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) more efficiently, according to research by Massachusetts General Hospital and Bar-Ilan University. Using an AI model to analyse the language used by nearly 1,300 women describing their traumatic birth experiences, the researchers achieved a 75%-85% accuracy rate in diagnosing postpartum PTSD. The study’s lead author, Sharon Dekel, said fast diagnosis is crucial for the well-being of mother and baby, and the AI could be incorporated into routine OB/GYN care.
