Researchers Uncover 46 Critical Flaws in Solar Inverters From Sungrow, Growatt, and SMA

Researchers have disclosed 46 new security flaws in products from solar inverter vendors Sungrow, Growatt, and SMA, collectively codenamed SUN:DOWN, that could allow potential breaches posing severe risks to electrical grids. The vulnerabilities allow bad actors to gain control of devices or execute code remotely. Tampering with the inverters at a large scale could cause instability in power grids, potentially even leading to blackouts.
