The Regenstrief Institute and SNOMED International are working together in a new initiative, the LOINC Ontology, which aims to enable wider healthcare data exchange. Both organizations retain editorial control of their respective standards. This move will allow healthcare providers who use different combinations of SNOMED CT and LOINC to meet clinical and regulatory requirements in a single solution, thus improving interoperability.
