Refresh of RomCom malware pops up in Ukrainian, Polish organizations

Researchers have detected a new wave of cyberattacks on Ukrainian government agencies and unspecified Polish organisations using an updated version of the RomCom malware, says cybersecurity firm Cisco Talos. The hackers aim to gain long-term access to victims’ systems and extract data for strategic purposes. The malware, believed to be linked to Russian-speaking threat actors, may eventually deploy ransomware for financial benefit.
