The number of victims paying a ransom in 2024 doubled from 6.9% to 16.3%, with data loss increasing to 30.2%, according to cybersecurity provider Hornetsecurity. As cyberattacks become more sophisticated, data recovery rates for businesses have fallen to 66.3%. Most ransomware attacks come via email and phishing. Despite 87% of companies having disaster recovery plans, only 56.3% are actively engaged in prevention strategies.
