Ransomware stakes are life-or-death, says Ponemon report

Ransomware attacks in healthcare settings continue to increase complications from medical procedures, according to a study by the Ponemon Institute. The study found that 45% of healthcare providers reported increased complications, up from 36% in 2021. The study also found that ransomware attacks have an adverse impact on patient mortality rates and increase the number of patients transferred to other facilities. In addition, more organizations are paying ransoms, with the average payment increasing.
