Chinese hackers are suspected of launching ransomware attacks on at least four hospitals in Romania. The attacks affected hospitals in Bucharest, Huși, Dorohoi, and Câmpeni. The Romanian Intelligence Service stated that installing antivirus software recognized in the industry is enough to stop the infection. The ransomware spread through infected email attachments, disguised as invoices and plane tickets. The attacks disrupted hospital operations and slowed down admissions and discharges. Health Minister Sorina Pintea announced that a criminal complaint would be filed. Organisations are urged not to pay ransoms to hackers.
