Ransomware costs at NHS provider Synnovis far outstrip profits

The ransomware attack on lab services provider Synnovis in 2024 cost the company over seven times its most recent annual profit. Russian-speaking cyber group Qilin claimed responsibility for the attack, which led to one of the NHS’s biggest data breaches and disrupted operations at several London hospitals. The estimated cost was £32.7m, significantly more than Synnovis’s profits of £4.3m for 2023.
