A ransomware attack forced US healthcare corporation Ardent Health Services to shut down emergency rooms and suspend non-urgent elective surgeries in several of its hospitals. The attack, which was confirmed by investigators around Thanksgiving, led to Ardent taking its network offline and suspending all access to its IT applications. Half of Ardent’s 25 emergency rooms were diverting patients to other hospitals as of November 28, and it is yet to comment on whether health records or financial information have been compromised.
