Ardent Health Services, which operates around 30 hospitals and 200 care sites in six US states, has diverted emergency patients to other facilities after a ransomware attack. Without a timeline for returning to regular operations, the hospital chain can’t yet confirm how much patient data may be exposed. This adds to the growing problem of healthcare data breaches which have exposed hundreds of millions of patient records since 2010 and cost $77.5 billion in downtime.
