California-based Center for Orthopaedic Specialists (COS) is alerting 85,000 patients to a potential data breach caused by a ransomware attack on its IT vendor. The attack took place on Feb. 24 and affected three of COS’ locations. Impacted information includes medical records, insurance details, and Social Security numbers. Although it is unknown if the data was stolen, the hacker did not appear to have exfiltrated it. The attack is part of a growing trend of ransomware attacks on the healthcare sector.
