Radware Records a 203% Increase in Harmful DDoS Attacks

Hey there Bay Area folks, how’s it going?

Let’s talk about something that’s been on my mind lately. You know that space where healthcare meets cybersecurity? I’ve been digging into some info, and the landscape has been changing in an intriguing way in the first half of 2022. It’s like we blinked and everything shifted somehow.

You see, way back when the pandemic hit (feels like a century ago, am I right?), there were seismic changes in our homes becoming our offices. Yeah, your kitchen transformed into your break room, your cat became your nosiest coworker—you get the picture. Now, this new work style opened up loads of possibilities for cyber threats.

Did someone say “opportunity for crime,” and score—they hit the jackpot. The rise of underground crime syndicates (sounds like a Hollywood blockbuster, doesn’t it?) took full advantage of this situation, opening up all kinds of gaps in our cybersecurity. Scary stuff indeed.

But, let’s get back to this year – ready for the twist? Just when we were getting our heads around pandemic cybercrime, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine threw a wrench into the works. It was like someone pulled the rug out from under us on the dance floor—talk about a change in rhythm!

Suddenly, it stopped being just about the pandemic and its ripple effects. A patriotic fervor took over the cyberspace, and guess what came along with it? A new wave of DDoS activity—serious business, those Distributed Denial of Service attacks.

If that wasn’t enough, some new kids on the block entered the scene – fresh threat actors ready to play the villain. So, we’re having to learn some new dance steps in the world of cybersecurity faster than you can say ‘Silicon Valley’.

So, the bottom line, folks? Our corner of the world’s dealing with a changing landscape. Healthcare and cybersecurity—two fields we used to think of as pretty separate—are overlapping in complicated ways that we didn’t see coming. But don’t worry – we’re Bay Area folks. We’ve got the creativity, drive, and tech-savvy to navigate this new terrain.

Remember, folks, we’re in this together, just like a family—and nothing’s stronger than a family, right? We got through the seismic shifts of 2020 and 2021, and we’ll get through this too. Let’s take these changes as a challenge to tighten our laces and run this cyber marathon, Bay Area style.

Till next time, stay safe and savvy in this digital world. Catch you on the flip side!
