Queensland government will implement a mandatory scheme for reporting data breaches, joining New South Wales as the only Australian states to do so. The bill will also require impacted organisations to inform customers directly of any breach, in a bid to improve transparency and better protect personal data. This follows the Coaldrake Review’s recommendation for such action.
