Qld gov introduces data breach notification legislation – Security

The Queensland government has passed a bill establishing a mandatory data breach notification scheme, about 15 months after it was recommended by the Coaldrake review. The scheme calls for clear communication on data breaches of Queensland government agencies and lists a series of exemptions to notifications, including potential cyber-security compromise. The legislation seeks to align Queensland privacy principles with Australian Privacy Principles.
