UK’s critical infrastructure is threatened by criminal gangs backed by Russia, Iran, and North Korea, warned security consultant Martin Riley, after Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden voiced concerns over sophisticated cyber attacks. Riley stated cyber resilience needs investment, as nearly two-thirds of key UK sectors experienced cuts to their cyber defence budgets in 2022-23. A related study revealed a 62% rise in attacks on UK’s national infrastructure from 2022 to 2023.
