Vladimir Putin-backed criminal gangs could attack the UK’s critical national infrastructure, per Martin Riley, director of managed security services at Bridewell. Riley echoed Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden’s warnings about the risk posed by these “sophisticated” cyber criminals. According to Riley, possible targets include public finances, transportation, schools, the military, the NHS and the government. Riley emphasised the necessity of investing in cyber security and adopting best practices to counter these threats.
